It was time for the first trip to the vet today for the puppies. They are now four days old, good timing to remove the dewclaws. That is something we rarely do in Sweden so if you ever come here and want to know who is from Sweden and who is born here in the US… look at their dewclaws… There are a couple of exceptions. I didn’t remove them on the B-litter, just because I didn’t know that you did it here and Tango’s breeder didn’t remove them either. I have never had any problems with dewclaws on my dogs at all so I feel it is a little bit overdo sometimes. But if that is standard to do, then I will do it. It is nothing painful on them so… So, off to Terrell Vet Center.
Some vets cut the dewclaws off but Dr. New burn them off, something I like a lot better. It went faster for the puppies and I think it was less painful for them too. It was done in a heart beat since it was only five puppies and it was only on the front paws that it had to be done. So now is that done! The puppies did great and Candy was outdoors while they were gone so she just smelled that they smelled different but didn’t show any signs of dislike when she got back. I also got a deworm shot for Candy that I gave her when I got home and I bought a vaccination shot for her too. Have to be extra careful with the job I have. Don’t want to pull anything home from work…
The big boy Tango is doing great today. He is not limping at all. So his little injury yesterday wasn’t that bad after all. But he enjoyed all the attention he got out of it so he might just limp to get attention *lol*. They learn pretty fast!
Today is my grandmother’s birthday. So if anyone sees her in Sweden, say Happy Birthday, even if it might be late with the time difference… mom talked to her on the phone this morning while I was at the vet to wish her Happy Birthday but I haven’t talked to her myself! We sent a card that I hope got there in time but with regular mail around the world – you never know, sometimes it takes weeks! Just crazy but true.
Let the horses out on a pasture with more grass today. I need to get them new halters when I get my paycheck so I can let them out on the whole property. After this last rain the grass is growing like crazy. I just love it! Well, I hate it as well because I have to start mowing too… always something positive with the negative. But I think this might be the last two bales of hay I have to order for a while too
Then it is just to stock for next winter! And I guess we have to be better prepared than we were this year… but with only four horses it will get a lot easier too!!
Well, time to get home again and just relax. This day has gone as fast as yesterday. I really didn’t know that just because someone figured out that it is spring the clock speed up too… this is just crazy! But, keep on going… That’s all you can do!
