RIP and unfair

Last Thursday we had two puppies over for visit. We knew the puppies was vaccinated and so was our dogs. Then we found out that one of the puppies passed away the day after due to Parvovirus. We pretty much knew what could come but we hoped that we could be lucky. But we were not lucky. And it went really fast! I saw the first signs yesterday morning. Wasn’t sure if it was parvovirus or the heat but got it clear in the afternoon that it was not the heat. We started treat with Gatorade, Jello and salt mix but it did not work. One puppy passed away over night, One here in the morning. Mom took two puppies to the vet this morning and the last passed away right after 1pm today.
I figured what I was facing early so I sent an email to Chief asking if I could burn some furlough hours today. I was thankful that he let me be off. I was going to be at the Highschool with Ranger today and I could go home after that.
Ranger behaved really well. I was so impressed with him. He got tired and hungry but was really good!

I found out that he needs to get used to cameras! He really don’t like them! But he liked all the attention from the students!
When I got home I got a call from the car dealer that they didn’t approve my income. I might have to return the car in the end of the week. This is just too much! First five puppies and then the car on top of that… Really not the best day! I loved the puppies, I love my car and it is just taken away from me!!! What have I done to deserve this? How can I turn this around to something positive? The weather doesn’t make it better either…

I don’t have A/C in my house so it is extremely warm. I only want some cooler temperatures and some rain but that won’t come in the near future either.
Nothing is going my way right now…

A package

We got a lot of rain today! Well it was only raining half the day but it came a lot of water! I am worried because I have two spots in my roof in my hallway that looks like it is leaking water! Not a chance I can afford to fix that now! :(

Got a package today… Or it was actually to Ranger

So now he has a vest to use when we are out training. He was supposed to follow me to work today but the shelter is so full so there was no room for him if I would need to leave him at the shelter so he had to stay home…

Well, guess it doesn’t happen that much on a normal Friday! Tomorrow is Saturday, we will have an adoption day at the shelter… A little bit unorganized but worth a try!

Dogbowl

Church as usual this morning. It was boring. Not often it is but first one next to mom was sitting “hopping” his leg all time which was extremely annoying and one behind sat and agreed in everything the priest said so it was hard to concentrate on what was said!
I picked up Ranger and dropped mom off at home and went to Cottonbowl Stadium in Dallas! Realized that Dallas sucks in signing on how to get somewhere! Especially around Fair Park!! Really need improvement! Bur after a while I found somewhere to park.
Ranger was a little insecure. Got a feeling that he didn’t trust he was going with me home! It was no problem with other dogs or people but it was a lot for him to grasp.

But it was great training for him! Happy I took the time!

Came home and crashed! Wonder if I or Ranger is more tired…

Crazy Friday

Yesterday was crazy at work! Had to start 45 min early. Was with mom at Terrell Vet Center to get Ranger microchipped when they asked if I could get a dog that was hit by a car. I left Ranger there, got to work to change to the truck, mom went home and I headed to the accident. And that was how the day was. Meetings, calls, adoptions etc and Ranger was with me all day. He behaved awesome! So proud of him!

The pictures from the photoshoot on Monday came today! Here are some of them!

Hot photoshoot

OMG, that turned out to be a very warm photoshoot yesterday! I was covered in sweat! Not easy with three dress changes. I tried in my riding boots that I haven’t had on for four years at least but they fit perfectly! Stiff since they are pretty new but no problem to get on or off!
Had both Amaria and Dallas in some pictures. This was the third time Maja had bridle in her mouth but she did great! So proud of them! Dallas has more experience but not from photoshoots.
Also had some pictures with Ranger! He is a fun dog! Happy boy! He behaved just awesome! Excited that he will start working with me here in May :) I am thinking of actually doing a DNA test on him to see what breeds he is so I can stop speculating! It doesn’t matter what breed he is but I am curious… Anyone has any experience from DNA tests on dogs?
Anyway, the pictures will probably be ready on Friday…

Today is the day! I will receive the Certificate of Merit at the City Council Meeting. I am excited, nervous, scared and happy at the same time!!! We don’t have this kind of awards in Sweden. And the only award I have got like this is the choir award in Highschool. It seems to come a lot of people to the meeting tonight! Don’t know how many will follow to Applebee’s afterwards but mom and I will go and eat to celebrate the award!! Glad that I won’t have to wake up early tomorrow, I guess my brain will spin! I will have friends there at least to take pictures! Hard to do it myself!

Well, more to come tomorrow!

8 hours?

I wonder if I get paid for all phonecalls on inconvenient times that I get? I love my job, no doubts about it but sometimes it feels like people need to respect that when I am off work – that means that i am OFF WORK… had a call last night 9:30 pm regarding a pot-bellied pig they found… well not the caller but the callers FRIEND found… really? I was in bed, on my day off… well, today the pig owner showed up at the shelter and actually thanks to that late call I could help the pig to get home so it turned out to be good after all… but I don’t know how many calls to my cellphone I’ve had the last days regarding dogs running around town, when they can drop them off etc etc… hm… First of all, we don’t take drop off’s… second of all, the shelter is so packed right now so I don’t know what to do. Being off three days was just crazy to come back! But I got a lot of things done. Two Greyhounds will get pulled by rescuegroups tomorrow, we got two dogs adopted out and I got it somewhat sorted out what we had inhouse and what wasn’t in the computers etc. We also got one dog neutered today, paid by a sponsor! So it turned out great anyway. But a long day. I was at work at 7 am and didn’t go home until 6:20 pm… The same tomorrow… just crazy…

Tomorrow is also Amaria DW’s third birthday! Gosh, time runs so fast. Amaria is the foal born in Sweden, she came here when she was about 7 months… This is the first picture we got of her three years ago

And this is one of the last picture I have taken of her this year, it is not taken today thou…

Her head has become quite bigger :) She is a very sweet horse. Will start working more with her now when things goes back to “normal”… hopefully next week! Anyway, Happy Birthday Amaria DW!

Got approval from Chief today that Ranger can come along to the event at Terrell Highschool end of May. So this weekend his training will start for real. Socialization and obedience in express or something! Not impossible of course, just needs to be done!

Otherwise things are just normal… will try to take new puppy pictures but it might have to wait to Sunday when I am off… hopefully I will be able to do my normal schedule 10a-7p next week and not 7-whenever as this week turned out…

I am back!

Glad I told you that I would be gone all week last week. It was no time for me to sit in front of the computer and blog. I worked from 8 am to 7 pm all week almost. But it was SO WORTH IT!!! Eleven dogs got adopted out at the jubilee!!! We didn’t have any goal of how many dogs to get adopted out but I think 11 was more than we ever would have imagined!!! I talked to so many people, my body was hurting so bad Sunday night so I could barely move!!! Here are some pictures from the event:

This is my second day off. I will be off tomorrow too. Will work Thursday, Friday and Saturday… It will be very interesting to see what I will come back to on Thursday… lol…

Ranger is at the vet today!!! Getting neutered and vaccinated and up to date on all his shots and stuff! He will probably start working with me in end of May. His first assignment will be to come along to the career expo at the Terrell Highschool in end of May. That dog impressed me so much yesterday. I was cleaning out the doghouse/tackroom and he was running around on the farm. He was close to me all the time. He didn’t chase the horses and he was just awesome! So I figured he might be able to get him fixed and done with and then he can get to work with me :) So when I called today to set an appointment for him tomorrow or Thursday they said come right away… so I did…

Today is just cleaning day. I will clean the former doghotel… don’t like it but it has to be done… so off I go! Bye bye

Pictures, Pictures & Pictures…

OMG… I was at Rock N’ Roll Half Marathon this morning. Worked as a stage manager. Did that last year too. It is a lot of fun. Also fun to work on the same spot and with the same bands (Radiovox & Threesome) as last year! The only bad thing is that I came home with 1087 pictures  to edit! I have to take it  in portions since they are so many… I saw Brian and Jim running by but haven got to their pictures yet. Will post them here tomorrow probably!  What I can say is that the weather was AWESOME, a little bit hot to be March but we can’t complain at that now! The runners were a little bit less crazy this year. Last year it was more “party like” and this year they were more focused on hitting the finish line. But it was very fun! I will post all pictures on my photos Facebook page and Snapped 4 you! I was at the 9 mile marker!

Well, after being there all morning I have just been sitting editing pictures. Had to take a break from the runners and edit some of my own pictures that I took yesterday after posting the blog… One week pictures of the puppies…

They are doing really well… they are FAT! No question that Candy at least have milk enough to them. I love this size of a litter. The last three litters with 10, 10 and 8 has been a lot. 5 puppies is just perfect!

I got two good pictures of Crispy yesterday. She is not easy to capture… she usually looks very sad and depressed on pictures but this was kind of good…

And some pictures Dallas and Acriz that I got yesterday after I updated the blog… kind of annoying but good to have some pictures until today too…

I hope that all of you that has been asking for pictures of the horses at least got enough for some days! As you all can see, they have plenty to eat… And after last weeks rain, the pond is filled to maximum with water so they can both drink and take a bath  if they wish!

I am off work tomorrow! So nice to be off on Mondays! Love it! I will SLEEP in the morning. Had to wake up 4:30 – 5 am the last three days and that is not really my good side. I get up but gosh, I have gotten used to sleep to 7 am… well, as soon as it will be daylight earlier I will probably wake up earlier too. But no alarm will wake me up tomorrow!!! :)

The rest of this day only contains eat some food, I still haven’t gotten a decent meal… just realized that sitting here and writing and just relaxing…

Waiting for the rain

Since many of you are asking of pictures of the horses I start this blog with a picture of them. Not a really good one but this is what they do all day long. The grass is growing and I am waiting for more rain the upcoming two days. Then I will let them out of that pasture and on the whole property to do what they are good at… lawn-mowing! Hanniball is still not looking really good, he is eating well but I think it will be good for him to eat all the grass he can and there is plenty of it for four horses!

I tried to have Ranger out in the outdoor runs today. Usually I have to have him in the barn because he climbs over the outdoor the runs… it took him five minutes to get out. So far he doesn’t go anywhere but with the background he has, I can not trust him really yet on that. But he was just playing around with Bounty and “haning out”. So far doing good. I think he knows that he belongs here now. Bounty wasn’t so happy to play with him because of her wound I guess. He is kind of ruff and tuff and her neck is painful. Ranger is with me here in mom’s house now, doing just great. He has been playing with Tango too but Tango is a little bit to tuff for him… lol… he gets his own medicine…

This is my second day off in row. It feels kind of strange. I have been off since 22 days, but that was only one day, this is my first two days off in row since I started as ACO, in January. And I so enjoy it. I love my job, no doubt about that but I really needed to charge my batteries to be able to do a good job. Usually I would have been at work now but I am home, waiting for the rain to hit. Good planning that I could be home today and since the rain hasn’t come yet I could let the dogs out here in the morning. I have to say I have the best schedule. I love being off on Mondays, don’t mind working Saturdays, I start my workingdays at 10am and have time for the animals in the morning and now after we turned the clock forward, it is light when I get home so I still have time to do some when I get home. The only thing I could ask for is a winning lotteryticket *lol* but I guess that won’t happen…

The puppies are doing good. Candy is still a great mother. She figures it out more and more. This morning she actually went right back to her puppies after being out. She takes great care of them and eats and drink well her self so there is not much going on there. They are pretty active puppies even if they are so small. They makes sounds and they move around as much as they can. I just love this age when you can have them sleeping in your hands. They don’t have their own opinion yet :)

Daim would like to let you know that he is still “in service”. He want to let Crispy know that, she is in heat but doesn’t care about him… he is very disappointed. He thinks he is still the best male on the earth… and he is… :)

End this blog with the puppies pedigree, in case anyone is wondering…

Dogs at large part 1

This is pictures of the first group I took on the walk yesterday. Ebeneezer, Em N’ Em, Dumle, Candy and Ranger…
