Waiting for the rain

Since many of you are asking of pictures of the horses I start this blog with a picture of them. Not a really good one but this is what they do all day long. The grass is growing and I am waiting for more rain the upcoming two days. Then I will let them out of that pasture and on the whole property to do what they are good at… lawn-mowing! Hanniball is still not looking really good, he is eating well but I think it will be good for him to eat all the grass he can and there is plenty of it for four horses!

I tried to have Ranger out in the outdoor runs today. Usually I have to have him in the barn because he climbs over the outdoor the runs… it took him five minutes to get out. So far he doesn’t go anywhere but with the background he has, I can not trust him really yet on that. But he was just playing around with Bounty and “haning out”. So far doing good. I think he knows that he belongs here now. Bounty wasn’t so happy to play with him because of her wound I guess. He is kind of ruff and tuff and her neck is painful. Ranger is with me here in mom’s house now, doing just great. He has been playing with Tango too but Tango is a little bit to tuff for him… lol… he gets his own medicine…

This is my second day off in row. It feels kind of strange. I have been off since 22 days, but that was only one day, this is my first two days off in row since I started as ACO, in January. And I so enjoy it. I love my job, no doubt about that but I really needed to charge my batteries to be able to do a good job. Usually I would have been at work now but I am home, waiting for the rain to hit. Good planning that I could be home today and since the rain hasn’t come yet I could let the dogs out here in the morning. I have to say I have the best schedule. I love being off on Mondays, don’t mind working Saturdays, I start my workingdays at 10am and have time for the animals in the morning and now after we turned the clock forward, it is light when I get home so I still have time to do some when I get home. The only thing I could ask for is a winning lotteryticket *lol* but I guess that won’t happen…

The puppies are doing good. Candy is still a great mother. She figures it out more and more. This morning she actually went right back to her puppies after being out. She takes great care of them and eats and drink well her self so there is not much going on there. They are pretty active puppies even if they are so small. They makes sounds and they move around as much as they can. I just love this age when you can have them sleeping in your hands. They don’t have their own opinion yet :)

Daim would like to let you know that he is still “in service”. He want to let Crispy know that, she is in heat but doesn’t care about him… he is very disappointed. He thinks he is still the best male on the earth… and he is… :)

End this blog with the puppies pedigree, in case anyone is wondering…

PUPPIEEEEESSS

Here is why it is good that I work where I work… this met me yesterday morning coming to work… I saw on her that she was pregnant already when she came but it wasn’t until Thursday I said to a co-worker about my suspicions… Six puppies… She had delivered them all by her self, done a great work. Amazingly, I posted them on the Shelter Facebookpage (www.facebook.com/terrellpet) and one of my mom’s friends from Wills Point came and adopted them later yesterday afternoon so they didn’t have to be in the shelter! That is amazing! I was so happy. I thought my two days off was ruined but nope :) And the puppies are so much better in a family that at the shelter!

Came home from work, no puppies. I was just so happy. But I saw that she had destroyed the pillow in the crate I have in the puppyroom so I knew the time was close… I told Candy “Thanks for waiting, now I have two days only for you”. And at 7pm the first puppy came, but unfortunately not alive… All thru the night they came with a steady paste. Candy didn’t really know what to do with them. As soon as I had fixed them out from the bag and cleared their airways, she figured out what her job was. All of them came with their feet first!!! That might have made a difference. I was exhausted and fell accidentally a sleep for an hour between 2a and 3a and when I woke up she had delivered another puppy but as I said, didn’t figure out what to do so it was just laying there dead :( Gosh, I was mad at my self… But five healthy puppies, Three boys, one with a patch on the inside of the ear, and two girls.

Candy is a good mother so far. She is very insecure and need me close pretty much but she is nursing them, cleaning them and doing everything expected of her as a new mother.

Bounty, her injured sister is not doing that good. She pulled off her bandage last night and pulled out the drain and some stitches. So I had to do a lot of wound cleaning today. It was not fun to put her in the shower and clean. That dog does NOT like to take a shower, but she does it even if we have to fight a little bit… Have some Clavamox left that I will giver her a couple of days to heal up better. Was surprised that she didn’t get any meds at all from the vet…

We are getting BAD weather tomorrow. I am happy that I can be home with the animals! We will probably loose internet connection at least over the day, as usual when you are on satellite as we are. I am really enjoying being off. I cleaned my kitchen, a bathroom and got some trash out of the house earlier today. Things that I never have time to do otherwise. First two days off, where I don’t put my foot at the shelter in 22 days! AWESOME!!! Feels like I might have a life after all! And it was really nice after being awake the whole day to spend the morning in bed sleeping and knowing that as long as all my animals was doing good, nothing mattered…

So the rest of the evening will just be cleaning some more at home, going forth and back to the puppies and waiting for the bad weather. The wind has already increased some so we might just be happy to be off tomorrow :)

Well well

Couldn’t come up with a better topic… Tired… This day hasn’t been as crazy as yesterday, thankfully, but it is a high paste life we live…

I don’t like the time changes right now. Well, part of me does because it is light when I come home at night but part of me doesn’t because it isn’t light until 8am… Can’t do as much as I wish in the morning! When I come home from work, I just want to CRASH! I try to have everything done in the morning so I can just allow me to do nothing at night but with “summer time” or daylight saving time as (I think) it is called here it won’t get light until 8am… That gives me 1.5 hour in the morning… not enough… And since I work until 7, but never gets out of there until 7:20pm and I am home at 7:30, it gives me 30 minutes when I get home… Not enough either… So I will like it in a couple of weeks, when it is light before 7am…  we are at least heading there!

Got a cute picture of Bounty this morning. She is doing good but she is bored to death. I can’t have her together with other dogs with this bandage around her neck, she doesn’t really want to be around other dogs either for that matter. You can tell it is a little bit uncomfortable, she is shaking her head some. But she is accepting the fact that she has to have it there and rest in a crate very well. But I think she looks pretty cool with that camouflage bandage!

Still no puppies! Nice. It would be perfect for me if she could wait as long as possible! It would be great if she could wait until Tuesday or Wednesday next week… Because then I can afford to remove dewclaws in time… Bounty’s stitches wasn’t really in my budget for this paycheck. I still have some to pay off on next check… I hate to owe people money but thankfully people understand my situation too… Work as crazy but all I work overtime is getting back to me in comp-time – not in money since I am still on probation…

My schedule will change on Thursday too. But I think to the better. I will be off Sundays and Mondays. Then I will work Tuesday – Friday 10am-7pm and Saturday 7am-4pm… Forget having fun Friday nights but now you don’t have to hear me complain about having a social life anymore because now I won’t have any at all. Chief has agreed of me leaving early next Friday for the dogshow and come in late Saturday so I can go to the show and also use some of the many hours I have in comp-time… That feels good at least so Do-Re-Mi will be at the show unless something really bad happens…

Well, time to go home and crash I guess… Mom made me dinner tonight, very nice since I didn’t eat any lunch… My eating habits are not the best if I say it that way… but I am not spending any money at least on it… saving it for the dogs and horses!

Really Screwed Monday

Why are some Mondays worse than others? 7:33am. Hanna is out in front of my house when I hear a big fight going on and mom screaming like crazy. I understand that something is not good! I run out and for me it looks like Shannon, Hanna and Tango is having a fight thru the fence but it resolves in the same second. I get Hanna indoors and she looks ok. Mom calls on my cellphone and asks how bad the Dalmatian is hurt?!? Ok, Bounty who gets out thru the fence was apparently involved too. Shannon had attacked Bounty thru the fence and shaked her bad! Out to try to find Bounty. Sure enough, a BIG wound behind left ear. No other choice than get her to the vet. Get dressed and off to Terrell Vet Center we went. I am happy I know the staff there now. I called on my way to let them know. Dr. New’s comment “that was a big one”… Bounty is usually a very reserved girl. If someone visits, she will be the one who barks the most and of course this was not a fun situation for her! But I was so impressed by how cool she was. She got sedated and then I left for them to go to work. I had to get back home to organize the once at home and then to work! One person short made this day even more messy.
Lunch… Had to squeeze that in, which meant get to the vet and get Bounty home. She now had a big bandage around her neck, looks pretty cool actually. My awesome mom had made two sandwiches for me to eat in the car. Lucky me, it was a lifesaver in this situation! Back to work, and I was only five minutes late for a meeting… Had to save a turtle that walked right out in the street on my way too… Some paperwork and calls where people screamed at me and hung up the phone in my ear I finally could leave work “only” 16 minutes late. Pounding head, had to go to Tractor Supply to get a bag of dog food for mom.
Home and just happy to relax. Both Candy and Bounty are doing good. Bounty is scared of everything, I guess it will take a couple of days for her to recover mentally… Open my email and are met by such a stupid comment in yesterday’s blog… Just an extra topping on this screwed Monday! I hope that I can get to sleep soon. Have bad headache right now, hope it will be gone tomorrow. I refuse to call in sick! So please Candy, no puppies tonight!
