Pigs, horses and…

I am exhausted! I was alone at work today, hoped it would be a calm day… I was WRONG! First call…a pig was running around loose… I am not kidding… A potbelly pig! Second call… A horse running loose in another side of town! Really? I thought I worked in the city! Third call was horrible! Someone had chained a dog to the middle of the railroad track! I can tell you it was no legal driving to the scene. I got the dog off the track in the last second! Less than a minute later the train came! The dog had old injuries but nothing that needed medical attention! I was shaken up when it all was over, realizing how little that could be left of the dogs life! But she is at the shelter, doing just fine!

Yesterday a man came in to the shelter looking for his dog. It was missing for a week! But amazingly I was called out today on a stray dog and guess what I found… His dog! A happy reuniting! I got so happy!

The shelter is overfilled again! I really don’t know what to do! It is a hard challenge to get the dogs out to new homes! But I just have keep on fighting!

But Mumin got its spots today…

Horrible Day

Just a horrible day at work. Nothing to bring up here. Can just say that you learn things about people in the strangest ways sometimes. And that is not always fun… The consequences are that I am not allowed to do part of my job without permission… I hope somebody is happy at least…

Went to Morgan Miller’s (Farmer’s insurance) open house today on my lunch… Morgan is fun! He moved his office down the street. Think they had a good event!

Will work 8-5 tomorrow… Good and bad… Have to go up early :( but will be home early :)

Not in the mood

Not in the mood for blogging today! Succeeded making two people mad at me without doing anything… Can’t do much about it… Just the way things are…
Went to Seagoville Animal Shelter today! That was very interesting! Sgt Bailey is very helpful and makes all ideas to reality. A big inspiration!
All puppies, and the other dogs got their DAPPv vaccine today… Of course I miscalculated, thought 25 would last but I was short 6 shots so will go back o the vet to get it..

Well, I am tired, wish it would be a better day tomorrow!

Kidding?

I left for work 1,5 hour early so I could go to City Hall and take pictures of a Police Appreciation Memorial at 10am… Well, God had something else in mind for me because the first thing that I saw was my work truck with a flat tire! I really don’t like Tuesdays! As much as I need to be off and rest I hate coming back to work realizing all new challenges with new dogs that has come in those two days!
I had some volunteers coming in to exercise the dogs! We got some dogs out and some kittens too but the same amount that went out, came in :( we got in a cute puppy that was limping. I thought it was something minor but was anyway heading to the vet so I took her along… And so wrong I was! She had a major fracture that required surgery. And here we go again! $$$$ but luckily TAA stepped up and paid the $200 for the surgery so we need to get funds for meds and recovery! Anyone willing to donate to Katie’s recovery and meds can contact me! We need to raise as much money as possible! The money that is not used to Katie will be used to another injured dog or to a spay/neuter! I am so thankful to TAA that can give Katie a second chance! If this was a year ago, Katie would be euthanized without hesitation! Now, she has a second chance!

The second half of the day was better than the first. We got some dogs organized for rescue groups and also adopted out! But it was nice to go home at 7pm! I think tomorrow will be a great day, we will visit Seagoville shelter and see how and what they are doing to reach their success!

The Moomin’s (spelled Mumin in Swedish) is a cartoon in Sweden and Finland written by Tove Jansson. Very nice figures, troll’s… This is the whole family:

Well, as you know I have wanted my own car for a long time and first I wanted a Smart car but then I saw a Kia Soul… Meet my own Mumin

We found an advertising about a Soul and headed to Rockwall to see if I was eligible. Well, it got a liiiiiittle bit more expensive than I wanted but still ok. So I am an owner of my own Mumin! I just love my little friend! It has standard transmission that I just love! 89% of the cars in Sweden has standard stick so that is what I am used to :)
Yes, Mumin will get spots sooner or later… I intend to have this car for a very long time so it will get some personalization things… Can only say, you won’t miss me…

Early morning – sang in church this morning. Not my best performances but not a catastrophe either. I don’t like being so unprepared but that is the way in church!
Mom and I went to eat lunch afterwards. It is Mothers Day and I am bad, not a card but I took mom for lunch. We met great friends Dwayne and Deborah! After lunch we had to visit Ham’s Orchards. They opened for the season yesterday.

The fruit is good but too expensive. We looked at some pies but they cost $13, not in my budget! But I guess Ham’s most famous thing is the…

…icecream! I asked for a SMALL icecream… An unfortunately I ate it all. So now I am in bed almost a sleep! But it was a good icecream.
The first year we lived here, everyone talked about Ham’s and how awesome it was. We went there with high expectations and got really disappointed. The icecream didn’t taste much and it was expensive. Since we had that experience we didn’t visit them until week before closing the second year and got surprised. The icecream tasted more! Even last year, the icecream was better and so this year. Both mom and I agreed that we understand what people are talking about! So I have to say, their icecream is good!

Well, time to nap… Then have to clean doghouse and train Ranger!

Doggie day

Saturday mean early mornings… Have to be at work 7am. Many volunteers showed up to our imprompted doggie day!

We came up with the idea on Thursday so it was not many preparations made… Two dogs got new homes and we got $100 in donations… But, first and foremost, the volunteers gave the dogs the best day ever! They got playtime, they got groomed and they all had a great time! I could have hoped that more dogs got adopted but it was unprepared and the rain didn’t make it better…

Mom and I went to Ihop after work! First it took 10 min before we could order, then another 30 min before we got the food! On top of that, the food was lukewarm! Not really what we are used to at Ihop! So mom just told them her opinion when they asked if we were happy. The manager came and apologized and gave us the food for free! Wow! That was unexpected! So we walked out as very happy customers after all!

Got a call at work this morning…it was Pastor Art from Church. I got really surprised since he called the work phone and not my cellphone but I figured that he talked to mom and got the number… Anyway, he asked if I could sing tomorrow. I had planned to not go to church tomorrow but I took it as a sign that I should be there anyway! So, I won’t get my sleep in morning tomorrow… and I better prepare for church, nails and clothes need to look nice!

A package

We got a lot of rain today! Well it was only raining half the day but it came a lot of water! I am worried because I have two spots in my roof in my hallway that looks like it is leaking water! Not a chance I can afford to fix that now! :(

Got a package today… Or it was actually to Ranger

So now he has a vest to use when we are out training. He was supposed to follow me to work today but the shelter is so full so there was no room for him if I would need to leave him at the shelter so he had to stay home…

Well, guess it doesn’t happen that much on a normal Friday! Tomorrow is Saturday, we will have an adoption day at the shelter… A little bit unorganized but worth a try!

What a day!

Another crazy day at work! I went to the vet in the morning to get dogs cleared for rescue and then off to Caddo Mills to drop them off. Moma dog and seven puppies! When I was there I got a sad call. A fourth quarantine dog in the shelter! The quarantine dogs are now taking up half the shelter! On Monday morning we had two runs open, now we have to euthanize to get room! I have to work my ass off to get them out before it is too late! I got two dogs out the front door. Far from enough but the ball is rolling! It is so frustrating that the rescue groups are not calling/emailing back and it is only a few that are willing to try to help! The job will continue tomorrow!
But then I got called out on an interesting call…

This little owl got cornered by a cat. It wasn’t badly injured but needed some antibiotics. I found a rescue group outside town that could help him right away! When I was at the wildlife center the owner showed me around and let me meet “Saturday”

Saturday is a Bobcat! Talk about an honor to be able to pet a Bobcat like this! It was cool! And yes, she was a BIG cat!
When I got home a package from Sweden! My friend Anna that sent me a book that I wanted to read in Swedish with two cards she made for me!

I got so happy! Looking forward to just sit and read!

Well, tomorrow is another long day! Will have dog class in the morning and then lunch meeting and more rescue work! Will be busy again…

Rain

Isn’t it ironic? I always want more rain and today I really got it. I had to go on a call when the rain the most! I was soaking wet! And don’t think that I had an extra uniform with me this morning! So from 1pm to 6pm I had to go around soaking wet and dry up… It was just so nice to come home and change clothes! I guess I will get a cold in a couple of days!

So glad that I cleaned yesterday. Our neighbor came over today to do the last on our tax return. My house is never presentable but for once you could walk in the door!

So this day has been busy and wet!
